The clock starts when you decide.
Sober44 counts your alcohol-free time to the second, works out the money and drinks you didn't spend, and marks health milestones as they pass. It all stays on your phone.
Set the date.
Answer once a day.
One decision up front, then one honest question each day. Everything else in the app runs off those two things.
Pick your quit date
Quit today, or set a date ahead and let the app step you down to it with a drink target for every day in between.
Check in once a day
Stayed sober, or drank. Add the trigger, your mood and a note if you want to. One check-in a day, and you can edit it later.
Log cravings as they hit
Rate how strong it is and what set it off, then go straight to breathing or a meditation track. Your sober clock keeps running.
A craving is not a relapse.
Sober44 counts your sober time from whichever came last: your quit date, or the most recent day you checked in and said you drank. Wanting a drink and having one are different events, and only the second one touches your count. A craving you log, however strong, leaves the clock alone. So does a bad mood or a skipped routine step.
That makes the app safe to be honest in. Your check-in streak counts every day you answer, whatever the answer, so owning a slip never breaks it. The money, drinks and calories figures are estimates built from the drink profile you enter, and the recovery rings and milestones are motivational markers based on typical timelines, not readings of your own body.

What you get.
Every feature below works in the free version. Pro lifts the free-version limits and opens the longer chart ranges and the other 27 themes.
See what you didn't spend
Money, drinks and calories avoided, worked out from your own drink profile and charted with a projection past today. Week and month views are free; 3-month and 1-year views come with Pro.
Watch the milestones pass
Liver, heart and brain rings plus nine milestones from 20 minutes to one year. With notifications on, the app tells you when the next one unlocks. The curves are motivational, not clinical.
Get through a craving
Log how strong it is and what set it off, then open box breathing or one of ten meditation tracks. Cravings usually pass in 15 to 20 minutes, and logging one never resets your count.
Write it down, keep a routine
A journal for how the day went and a morning checklist you can reorder, with the last seven days of your routine shown at a glance.
A selfie a day
One photo per day, rendered into a timelapse video with your sober-day count and money saved on each frame. Save it to your camera roll or share it.
Nobody else reads it
No account, no sign-up, no ads. Check-ins, cravings, journal entries and photos stay on your phone. The app sends anonymous crash and usage stats, never your entries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sober44 free?
Yes. The sober counter, streaks, quit and taper plans, unlimited daily check-ins, recovery milestones, badges, selfie timelapse, breathing and meditation, share cards and reminders are all free. The free version allows 2 craving logs a day, 1 new journal entry a day (editing past entries is never limited) and 3 routine steps in total. Savings and recovery charts show 1-week and 1-month ranges, the check-in trend shows 30 and 60 days, and 3 of the 30 themes are included. Pro removes those limits and adds the 3-month and 1-year ranges, the 90-day trend and every theme. It starts with a 7-day free trial, then runs on a yearly or weekly plan, with the price shown in the app before you confirm.
What counts as a relapse, and does logging a craving reset my count?
Two things reset your sober time: a daily check-in where you say you drank, or moving your quit date yourself. The count runs from whichever happened last. Logging a craving never resets anything, however strong it was, and neither does a bad mood or a missed routine step. Your check-in streak is separate and counts every day you answer, so being honest about a drink does not break it.
Can I taper instead of quitting cold turkey?
Yes. Set a quit date in the future and Sober44 builds a straight-line schedule from your usual drinks per day down to zero on quit day, with a target for each day, a countdown, and morning reminders for the week ahead. Sober44 is not medical advice, and its taper is a simple schedule, not a medical detox plan. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous.
Does Sober44 work offline?
Yes. The counter, check-ins, cravings, journal, routine, charts, meditation tracks and reminders all run on your phone and work without a connection. The app uses the internet to send anonymous crash and usage stats and to check a Pro subscription with the App Store or Google Play.
Who can see my check-ins and journal?
Only you. There is no account and no server. Check-ins, cravings, moods, journal entries, selfies and your quit plan are stored in the app on your phone and are never uploaded, and the anonymous crash and usage stats never include them. Progress cards leave the app only when you tap Share. A finished timelapse is saved to your camera roll, so it follows your phone's photo backup settings. Uninstalling the app deletes the rest of the data from your phone.
Are the money saved and health numbers exact?
No, they are estimates. Money, drinks and calories avoided come from the drink profile you enter (drink type, size, strength, drinks per day, calories and weekly spend) multiplied by your sober time, because the app does not log what you drink day by day. The liver, heart and brain rings and the nine milestones are motivational markers based on typical recovery timelines, not measurements of your own health.
